We are in the midst of an unprecedented health emergency affecting everyone worldwide.
At Taxmisers, we have been dedicated to serving our community since 1989. Our clients are much more than just a business transaction - we cherish our relationships with you and our ability to meet your tax filing needs.
In response to this unprecedented health emergency, we are instituting some new measures to ensure that your tax filing needs continue to be taken care of while protecting the safety of both our staff and our clients.
Following the Ontario Government’s recommendations, we have made the decision to have half of our Taxmisers team work from home to ensure safety and continuity.
The above protective measures may result in longer turnaround times than you may have come to expect, and we understand that our reduced hours may not be convenient for some of our clients. However, we are also committed to continuing to serve our community. To that end, we encourage you to utilize the following options:
Utilize our digital services. You can email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or fax (416-946-1859) your tax slips to our office and we will prepare them and send them back to you for signature. This allows us to employ our team which is working from home and keeps you from having to venture out during the pandemic.
Mail your paperwork to our office. Over the past 30 years, many of our clients have moved all over the country and have continued to mail us their paperwork. We prepare your returns and mail them back to you for signing.
If you need to come into the office:
Utilize our drop off service. We can then prepare your tax returns and have you return to pick them up only upon completion. This reduces the number of people waiting in the office space at any one time.
For those who visit us, we recommend that only one member of the family come in. We can prepare the returns, and only require signatures to file which can be emailed, faxed, mailed in or dropped off after completion. Please note that we have removed office chairs to help in social distancing as well as to reduce the number of people waiting in the office space at any one time.
Our policy has always been to meet with each of our clients to review their tax returns to ensure that they are accurate and complete. With less contact, we ask that regardless of which method you choose, you include details of any changes in your situation and updated contact information.
We deeply value the relationships we have developed with each of you, and it is out of the desire to protect your health and the health of our community that we are making the difficult decision to implement these measures.
We hope that these measures are only temporary. While the government has extended the deadline, we strongly suggest that our clients do not delay in filing their returns to ensure that all payments which are based on the tax return are maintained without interruption. These include GST credits, OTC (Ontario Trillium Credits), child tax benefits, and Guaranteed Income Supplements (GIS) for our seniors.

Flexibility for Taxpayers- COVID-19 measures
In order to provide greater flexibility to Canadians who may be experiencing hardships during the COVID-19 outbreak, the Canada Revenue Agency will defer the filing due date for the 2019 tax returns of individuals, including certain trusts.
For individuals (other than trusts), the return filing due date will be deferred until June1, 2020. However, the Agency encourages individuals who expect to receive benefits under the GSTC or the Canada Child Benefit and Guaranteed Income Supplement not to delay the filing of their return to ensure their entitlements for the 2020-21 benefit year are properly determined.
The Canada Revenue Agency will allow all taxpayers to defer, after August 31, 2020, the payment of any income tax amounts that become owing on or after today and before September 1, 2020. This relief would apply to tax balances due, as well as instalments.
